Getting there and the practical bits

The council describes the Broadsands site as wheelchair accessible. Confirm your individual access needs with the provider before booking.

Paignton is well covered for the basics that matter. Across Goodrington and Preston you will find parking, toilets, showers, drinking water, cafes and level or near-level access in the main areas. Goodrington also benefits from nearby parkland, which helps when children have had enough of the sand for a bit.

Check the walking distance, steps and parking arrangements for your chosen hut. Facilities can have seasonal opening hours.

Bringing your dog

Paignton is mixed for dogs in peak season. Goodrington North Sands is dog friendly all year, while South Sands has a ban from 1 May to 30 September. Preston Sands is also restricted in summer. So dogs can still come to Paignton in high season, but only if you pick the right stretch and keep to the local rules.

Permission to bring a dog into the hut is separate from access to the beach. Ask the hut provider before booking.

Weather, tides and water

Check the latest forecast and tide times shortly before you travel. A forecast available today may not cover your planned visit.

See current beach conditions

Follow local lifeguard advice and beach safety signs. Tide predictions do not tell you whether it is safe to swim.

A little more to your day

Leave time for a walk, a picnic or something nearby. Check opening hours, access and any separate booking requirements.
