The UK has an estimated 20,000 beach huts spread along its coastline. They range from traditional wooden cabins with a gas ring and deckchairs to modern pods with mains electricity and kitchenettes. Some are available for a single day, others for a full season.

Hut & Tide is building the largest collection of bookable beach huts in the UK. We are starting with the Dorset coast, where demand is highest and the hut culture is strongest, and expanding county by county along the south, east and north coasts. Cornwall

Bude

Bude is one of the easiest places in Cornwall to do a beach hut day properly. Summerleaze is right by town, Crooklets is just up the coast, and you've got surf, sand, the sea pool and enough nearby facilities to make the whole thing feel simple rather than hard work.

Hayle

Hayle is less about neat rows of promenade huts and more about space, dunes and proper beach stays. The Towans stretch on for miles, the bay is huge, and the best of the hut-style offer here leans towards chalets and beachside bases rather than traditional seafront cabins.

Newquay

Newquay is louder, busier and more surf-led than most beach hut towns, which is part of the point. If you want quiet little rows of cabins, look elsewhere. If you want a proper beach base near the water, with food, surf hire and big-name beaches all around you, Newquay makes a lot of sense.

St Ives

St Ives is one of those places that can look almost unreal when the tide is right and the light turns up. Porthgwidden is the main beach hut and pod spot, and it suits the town perfectly: small enough to feel tucked away, smart enough to feel special, but still a proper family beach.

Devon

Beer

Beer is the sort of place people get quietly attached to. A pretty fishing village, a sheltered shingle beach, cliffs on either side, and beach huts that feel part of the place rather than a bolt-on extra. It isn't flashy. That's why it works.

Brixham

Brixham does beach huts a bit differently. This is a fishing town first, with the hut scene centred on Breakwater rather than a long sandy promenade. It suits people who like harbour views, calmer water and a beach day with a bit more character than the standard resort formula.

Budleigh Salterton

Budleigh Salterton has a calm, settled sort of seaside feel. A long pebble beach, a decent promenade, a handful of beach huts and enough nearby cafes to keep the day moving along nicely. It is not trying to entertain you every second. That is part of the attraction.

Dawlish

Dawlish has a seaside feel all its own. Trains on the seawall, a long beach walk, red cliffs in the distance and beach huts that add a bit of colour without trying too hard. It is one of those towns where the journey along the front is half the appeal.

Paignton

Paignton is one of the easier places in Devon to do a beach hut break well. Goodrington, Preston and the seafront around Marine Parade all give you proper family beach options, decent facilities and a hut hire setup that is actually built for visitors, not just long-term owners.

Torquay

Torquay's beach hut scene feels a bit smarter and a bit calmer than some of its neighbours. Corbyn Head gives you the classic seafront hut setup, while Meadfoot has chalets with a more tucked-away feel and some of the best bay views on this stretch of coast.

Dorset

Bournemouth

Seven miles of golden sand, Blue Flag beaches and over 250 beach huts to choose from. Book a hut for the day, the week or the whole season along one of the UK's most celebrated coastlines.

Christchurch

Christchurch has range. The famous overnight huts on Mudeford Sandbank, the family beach feel of Avon and Friars Cliff, and the smaller, quieter stretch at Gundimore. It is one of the few places where you can go from harbour mood to open-bay beach day in a short walk.

Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis has a bit more character than the standard seaside formula. The pastel huts on the lower seafront are a big part of the look, Monmouth has its own white day huts, and the whole place feels tied to the Cobb, the cliffs and the old town rather than one long uniform beachfront.

Poole

Poole is beach hut territory. Sandbanks gets the headlines, but the strength of the town is the spread of good locations along the seafront, from Shore Road and Canford Cliffs to Branksome Chine and Branksome Dene. If you want choice, Poole has it.

Studland

Studland feels different the moment you get there. More open, more natural, less built-up. The huts sit back into that landscape rather than dominating it, mostly around Knoll Beach with a few more at South Beach, and that suits the place perfectly

Swanage

Swanage is exactly the kind of town people picture when they think of a Dorset beach hut break. A curved bay, a proper main beach, huts close to the sand, and a seafront that still feels set up for ordinary family beach days rather than just passing trade.

Weymouth

Weymouth is more chalet than classic hut row, but that does not make it any less useful for this sort of page. The beach is broad, the bay is sheltered, and the seafront has beach chalets and accessible chalet hire that fit the town's very traditional, family-first kind of seaside day.

East Sussex

Bexhill-on-Sea

Bexhill is calmer than Brighton and less staged than some of the bigger seaside towns. Long promenade, open sea, plenty of sky. The beach huts are spread along the frontage at East Parade, West Parade and Glyne Gap, which gives the town a proper beach-hut feel even though most of it is geared more to site licence holders than casual day hire.

Brighton and Hove

Brighton and Hove is a bit of a hybrid. The classic painted hut look belongs mostly to Hove Promenade, while the wider city adds beach chalets at Madeira Drive, Ovingdean and Rottingdean. It is busier, louder and more urban than most hut towns, but that is exactly why some people love it.

Eastbourne

Eastbourne is one of the stronger south coast towns for this sort of page. It has a proper resort seafront, beach huts you can actually book for short stays, longer-term huts and chalets in several locations, and enough space along the front to choose between the busier main beach and the quieter western end at Holywell.

Hastings

Hastings is more spread out than people sometimes expect. The hut and chalet sites run across the wider Hastings and St Leonards seafront, which means you are not dealing with one neat little beach-hut strip. It is a longer, more urban coast, but that also gives it range.

Seaford

Seaford feels open. Big bay, broad shingle beach, cliffs in the distance and less of the built-up resort pressure you get further west. The beach hut scene is split between West View for seasonal hire and longer-term hut areas such as Martello and Bönningstedt, which gives the town a useful mix.

Lancashire

Fleetwood

Fleetwood feels old-school in a good way. Big open sands, a long seafront, the bay stretching away towards the Lakes on a clear day, and beach chalets that sit naturally beside Marine Hall rather than trying to become an attraction in their own right. It is a good place for people who like space, sea air and a less polished sort of beach town.

Lytham St Annes

St Annes is the beach-hut heart of Lytham St Annes. Wide sand, a traditional promenade, the pier nearby and a run of modern huts that are genuinely built for proper day use rather than just looking nice in photos. If you want the strongest beach-hut page in Lancashire, this is it.

Norfolk

Cromer

Cromer has that classic Norfolk mix of pier, promenade and wide sand when the tide drops away. The huts and chalets sit right in the middle of it, so a beach day here feels easy. You are close to the town, close to the sea, and never far from a cup of tea or a walk along the prom.

Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth is full-on seaside in the best way. Wide sandy beach, big promenade, piers, deckchairs, amusements and more room than most people realise once you move away from the busiest central strip. The beach huts at North Drive give the town a proper beach-base option as well.

North Yorkshire

Filey

Filey has a gentler feel than Scarborough or Whitby. The beach is huge, the promenade is flat and easy, and the chalets sit right where they should, along the seafront rather than hidden away. If you want a traditional beach day without too much noise around it, Filey is very easy to like.

Scarborough

Scarborough gives you two different beach moods in one town. South Bay is the classic seaside version with harbour views, amusements and chalets by the sand. North Bay is more open, more water-sports focused, and a bit less full-on. Put the two together and it becomes one of the stronger beach-chalet towns on the Yorkshire coast.

Whitby

Whitby has one of the most recognisable beach-chalet settings in Yorkshire. High cliffs behind, long sand ahead, colourful chalets running along West Cliff, and the abbey watching over the town. It feels a bit dramatic, a bit windswept, and far more memorable than the average beach day.

Redcar & Cleveland

Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Saltburn has a bit of drama to it. The pier, the cliff tramway, Huntcliff rising behind the beach, and those historic chalets on the Lower Promenade all give it a stronger sense of place than the average seaside town. It feels properly coastal, and a little windswept in the best possible way.
