Bude is one of the more straightforward Cornish towns for beach hut hire. You can find daytime huts and short-stay options around Summerleaze and Crooklets, with some set up for accessible use. It suits anything from a one-day beach base to a full week of repeat trips to the sand.

Crooklets is one of Bude’s main beaches, with beach huts and a large car park close to the shore. The tourist board lists cafés, toilets, showers and an accessible toilet, making it a practical base for a day outside.

Summerleaze Beach

Summerleaze is close to Bude’s town centre, with a large car park and the sea pool beside the beach. Hire huts are arranged in several groups, including terraces, decking and green areas. Their position matters when choosing a base.

Two proper beaches, a sea pool and huts that actually earn their keep

Bude works because it gives you options without making you trek for them. Summerleaze is the town's classic family beach, with the sea pool, flatter access and that easy "park up and get on with the day" feel. Crooklets is a little more open and surfy, but still close enough to feel part of the same seafront run.

The beach huts here are useful rather than precious. Somewhere to change, dump the bags, make lunch and get out of the wind when Cornwall remembers it's on the Atlantic. And in Bude, that matters. On a bright day it feels glorious. On a breezier one, a hut can make the difference between staying all day and giving up by two.

Bude is well set up for a full beach day. Around Summerleaze and Crooklets you'll find parking, toilets, cafes, lifeguards in season, surf hire and easy access back into town. Summerleaze also has the sea pool, while Crooklets adds play areas, promenade space and a stronger surf beach feel.

Dogs on the beach

Bude is workable with a dog, but you do need to know which beach you're aiming for. At Summerleaze, dogs are allowed all year, though they must be on a lead between 10am and 6pm from 21 May to 30 September. Crooklets has a daytime seasonal ban between 15 May and 30 September. Nearby beaches around the Bude area are easier for dogs in summer, so the town is best treated as seasonal rather than fully dog-friendly.
