Hut & Tide is the UK's beach hut booking platform. List your hut, reach thousands of renters, take secure payments and manage bookings from one place. No listing fees. You only pay when a booking completes.
In Bournemouth alone, waiting lists for hut sites have been closed since 2017. Across the UK there are an estimated 20,000 beach huts, many sitting empty on weekdays and off-peak weeks because their owners have no simple way to take bookings.
Meanwhile, renters are searching Facebook groups, council portals and single-hut websites trying to find availability. Payments go through bank transfers. Cancellation terms are unclear. There is no deposit process. Damage disputes turn personal.
Hut & Tide fixes this for both sides. Renters get a proper booking platform with real photos, clear terms and secure payments. Owners get bookings without the admin, and payments without the risk.
Airbnb and Vrbo are designed for holiday homes, not beach huts. Hut & Tide is purpose-built for the way beach huts actually work: day slots, weekly blocks, seasonal lets, key handovers and council rules.
Your hut is listed on a dedicated beach hut platform that renters search by location, date and facilities. No more relying on Facebook posts or word of mouth to fill empty days.
Renters pay through Stripe when they book. The money is collected securely, deposits are held separately, and your earnings are transferred to your bank account after the hire completes.
Set pricing by season, offer day hire, weekly blocks or seasonal lets, add blackout dates, and define minimum and maximum hire periods. It works the way beach hut hire actually works.
Select your council area and licence type when you create your listing. The platform enforces subletting day caps, maximum charges, residency requirements and permitted hire periods automatically.
Renters can message you through the platform with questions before they book. Automated check-in instructions, key collection details and directions are sent when a booking confirms.
Structured fields for what renters actually care about: electricity, water, cooking, wheelchair access, dog-friendly, steps to the beach, nearest parking, tide notes. Not a blank text box.
Commission on completed bookings only. No upfront costs.
You decide what to charge for day hire, weekly hire and seasonal lets. Set different prices for peak and off-peak seasons. The full price is shown to the renter at checkout with no additional guest fees.
When a booking completes, we deduct 12% commission and transfer the rest to your bank account. Payment processing costs are included in the commission, so there are no surprise deductions.
If the renter cancels within the terms you set, the refund is handled automatically. If there is a dispute, we mediate based on the evidence both sides provide.
From registration to your first booking. The whole process is designed to be straightforward and to keep you in control of your hut.
Create an owner account with your name, contact details and bank information for payouts. This takes a few minutes.
Add photos, describe your hut using structured fields (facilities, access, parking, tide notes), select your council area and set your pricing and availability.
We check your listing meets minimum quality standards, confirm you have the right to hire the hut, and apply the correct council rules to your listing.
Your hut goes live. Renters find it, book it, and pay securely. You receive check-in details to share and get paid when the booking completes.
Most beach hut owners know they can sublet, but the rules are different in every council area. Hut & Tide builds those rules into the platform so you cannot accidentally break them.
Some councils limit how many days per year you can sublet. For example, Poole allows up to 56 days. The platform tracks your total and blocks bookings once you reach the limit.
Where councils publish maximum weekly charges by season, the platform prevents you from setting prices above the cap. You stay compliant without checking the rules each time.
In areas like Bournemouth where subletting is restricted to residents, the platform can require proof of residency from the renter as part of the booking flow.
Every booking includes a deposit held by the platform. If something goes wrong, report it with photos within the agreed window. The deposit is used to cover costs, with a clear dispute process.
