Poole's seafront is strong because it is not all built around one beach. Sandbanks is the obvious draw, and fair enough, but the town keeps going with a run of beaches that each do something slightly different. Shore Road is easy and accessible, Canford Cliffs feels smart without being stuffy, and Branksome Chine or Branksome Dene give you a bit more space and a less central feel.

Sandbanks is the best-known choice and suits people who want the full big-beach feel. Shore Road is one of the easiest for access and watersports.
