Big Cornish sands, dune-top chalets and room to breathe
Hayle feels broad and open in a way a lot of Cornish beach towns don't. The beach seems to go on for ages, the dunes give it a slightly wilder edge, and the whole place has more breathing room than the tighter resort towns further along the coast. If you like your beach days with space around you, Hayle gets it right.
The stay here is often more chalet than classic hut, especially around Riviere Towans and the wider Towans area. That's no bad thing. It suits longer coastal breaks brilliantly, and the views across St Ives Bay can be ridiculous when the light catches late in the day.

Hayle has the basics covered without feeling overbuilt. Main access points offer parking and toilets, lifeguards patrol in season, and there are cafes and refreshment stops around the Towans and Gwithian side. Just keep in mind that some access routes are through dunes, so carrying a lot of kit can be a slog.
Dogs on the beach
Hayle is generally good for dog owners, but there is a summer daytime restriction on the main central stretch. Between 1 July and 31 August, dogs are not allowed between 10am and 6pm on the section from the Hayle River to Black Cliffs. Outside those hours, and on other nearby stretches, it is much easier. So this is best treated as a town with seasonal dog-friendly areas rather than unrestricted access everywhere.
