The easy visitor option is Hove Huts, which offers day hire on Hove Lawns from 10am to 8pm. The council's own beach huts on Hove Promenade are site licences for residents, and council beach chalets across the city are also resident-led, longer-term arrangements rather than casual tourist bookings.

Hove Promenade is the obvious place for classic huts. Hove Lawns is the clearest short-stay day-hire spot. Beyond that, the council chalet locations at Hove, Madeira Drive, Ovingdean, Rottingdean and Saltdean widen the picture, especially if you are thinking more long term than one sunny afternoon.

A beach hut day with proper city life behind it
Brighton and Hove is not the place for a sleepy, tucked-away beach hut break. The seafront is part promenade, part people-watching strip, part city backdrop. And that gives it its own appeal. You can have a hut day, then wander straight into cafés, shops, bars or the rest of the city without feeling you've left the beach behind.
The hut story here is split. Hove Promenade has the classic hut line and the strongest hut look, while the city council's chalets are spread more widely across Hove, Madeira Drive, Ovingdean, Rottingdean and Saltdean. Add in visitor day hire through Hove Huts on Hove Lawns and you get something more flexible than people often expect.

The advantage here is not subtlety. It is convenience. The seafront gives you cafés, bars, promenades, attractions, public transport, cycle routes and a huge amount within walking distance. Hove Huts themselves come with table, chairs and a beach mat, which makes the day-hire version feel genuinely usable rather than token.
Dogs on the beach
From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are only allowed on designated dog-friendly beaches in Brighton and Hove. Those include parts of West Hove, Central Hove, East Hove, West Brighton, East Brighton and long stretches east of the Marina towards Rottingdean and Saltdean. Central Brighton has no dog-friendly beach in high season. From 1 October to 30 April, dogs are allowed on all beaches.
