The council's fees schedule confirms 20 Saltburn chalets charged on an annual basis, and the seafront conservation records identify the Grade II listed Lower Promenade chalets as part of the town's historic fabric. So the feel here is more established seaside chalet than quick-turn tourist hut row.

The main chalet and hut focus is the Lower Promenade by the pier and tramway. This is the part most people mean when they talk about staying right by the beach in Saltburn. Hazelgrove, further west, feels a little quieter and more open, while the pier end keeps you closest to the classic seafront landmarks and surf beach.

A Victorian seaside town with real character and a beach that still feels wild at the edges
Saltburn has presence. You notice it straight away. The pier reaches out into the sea, the old cliff tram still carries people down to the beach, and the town sits above it all with that slightly grand Victorian confidence that has not quite worn off. It is one of those places that feels memorable before you have even sat down.
The beach helps, of course. It has Blue Flag status, a proper surf break and a broad sweep of sand at low tide, but it still feels less polished than the classic resort towns. That is why people like it. The chalets on the Lower Promenade add another layer to the place. They are not just practical. They are part of the look, part of the seafront, part of what makes Saltburn feel unmistakably Saltburn.

Saltburn is well set up once you are down on the seafront. There is long-stay parking at Cat Nab, short-stay parking by the pier, toilets at Cat Nab and on the Lower Promenade, a Changing Places toilet at Cat Nab, easy access via the cliff tramway, food and amusements along the Lower Prom, and the Valley Gardens and miniature railway just up from the beach.
Dogs on the beach
Saltburn is partly dog friendly during the main season rather than fully open. From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are not allowed in the exclusion zone running from the beach access at Hazelgrove to the eastern side of the pier. Outside that section, dogs are still welcome, and they can also be walked on the promenade as long as they are kept under control.
