Hastings gives you a split market. The Victoria chalets are available for seasonal weekly hire from the end of May to September. Most other hut sites are long-term arrangements, with waiting lists or licence-based ownership rather than easy casual booking.

A beach hut town with grit, character and more range than it first lets on
Hastings has a tougher-edged seafront than Eastbourne or Bexhill, and that is part of the appeal. Fishing quarter in one direction, St Leonards in the other, long stretches of promenade in between, and beach huts and chalets that feel woven into the coast rather than staged for effect. It is a working seafront as much as a visitor one.
The best short-stay option is the Victoria chalets on the Lower Promenade at Marina in St Leonards. They are seasonal, weekly and very much a practical base by the sea. Beyond that, the long-term hut sites at White Rock, West Marina, West of Haven, Bulverhythe and Glyne Gap show that Hastings has a deeper hut culture than people often realise.

The seafront has the basics well covered. There are several public toilet blocks, and most include male and female facilities, accessible toilets and baby changing. Around Marina and the wider frontage you are also close to cafés, promenades and the rest of the town rather than stranded on an isolated beach strip.
Dogs on the beach
Hastings is mixed in the warmer months rather than fully open. From 1 April to 30 September, dogs are not allowed on the beach from the west of the Harbour Arm to the east side of Hastings Pier, and from the west end of Bottle Alley to opposite the Royal Victoria Hotel. Other stretches remain dog friendly, and from 1 October to 31 March dogs are allowed across all parts of the beach.
