More about the Suffolk coast

Beach huts along the Suffolk coast

The Suffolk coast has a clean, open feel to it. A mix of sand and shingle, long promenades in places, and enough old seaside character to make the beach huts feel like they belong rather than just decorate the frontage. Felixstowe and Lowestoft are the key names, and both have a strong connection to that classic east coast beach day.

Felixstowe has one of the more established hut scenes in the county, while Lowestoft adds both hut and chalet appeal depending on where you stay. There's a practicality to Suffolk's coast that works well. Parking tends to be straightforward, the beaches are easy to understand, and a beach hut gives you exactly what you need without any nonsense.

It's an easy county to warm to. Less showy than Norfolk, perhaps, but very good at what it does.
