Lyme Regis keeps it fairly simple. The town council hires out the lower seafront huts on daily and weekly terms, with a waiting list if dates are full. Monmouth Beach huts are privately owned, and some may be available to rent privately depending on the owner.

The main council-run hire is on the lower seafront, where the pastel huts sit along Marine Parade. Monmouth Beach is the other name worth knowing, but those white day huts are privately owned, so hire there tends to be more private and less uniform.
Lyme Regis Seafront
Marine Parade links the town centre with the Cobb, passing beach huts, cafés and places to stop for an ice cream. Front Beach has sand, while neighbouring stretches are pebbly, so check which part of the shore your chosen hut faces.
The town council offers beach hut hire. Confirm the location and hire period on its booking page. If you head farther along the shore towards Monmouth Beach or East Cliff, check the tides and keep well away from the cliffs.

More than a beach town, and better for it
Lyme Regis never feels like a place built around a single strip of sand. The harbour, the Cobb, the changing shoreline and the older town all feed into it, which gives a day here more shape and interest. The huts on the lower seafront are right in the middle of that picture. Colourful, familiar and properly part of the town's look.
Monmouth Beach adds something different again. It is rougher round the edges, more fossil-hunter than deckchair, and the white day huts there have a distinct feel of their own. If you like beach hut towns with a bit of grit and history in them, Lyme Regis is one of the good ones.

The big advantage here is how much is within a short walk. The huts are part of the main seafront, so you are close to the beach, the promenade, the Cobb, cafes, shops and town-centre facilities. Monmouth has a more stripped-back feel but gives direct access to the fossil beach and Undercliff side of town.
Dogs on the beach
Lyme Regis is mixed but manageable with a dog. Front Beach is closed to dogs from 1 May to 30 September, and in winter dogs must be on a short lead there. Monmouth Beach is dog friendly all year, and Church Cliff and East Cliff are also open all year. So summer dog access exists, but you need to head for the right beach rather than the main front.
