Beach hut hire in Dawlish

Dawlish has a seaside feel all its own. Trains on the seawall, a long beach walk, red cliffs in the distance and beach huts that add a bit of colour without trying too hard. It is one of those towns where the journey along the front is half the appeal.

A classic Devon beach town with trains, sea views and colourful huts

Dawlish has one of the most distinctive seafronts in Devon. The railway runs right by the sea, the beach stretches away towards Red Rock, and the whole place feels like a proper old coast town rather than a polished resort designed by committee. People either love the trains immediately or spend the day pretending they are too grown-up to care and then end up watching them anyway.

Coryton Cove gives Dawlish a slightly softer side, with its row of huts and more tucked-away feel, while the main town beach is broader and more open. Together they give the place real range. Busy if you want it. Quieter if you don't.

Where to look for beach huts in Dawlish

The two names that matter are Dawlish Town Beach and Coryton Cove. The main beach feels broader and more open, with the railway and town close by. Coryton Cove is smaller, more sheltered in feel and the prettier of the two if you like your beach days a little less busy.

A mix of long-term huts and seasonal short-stay hire nearby

Dawlish is a little mixed on rental style. Teignbridge lists long-term hut leases at Dawlish and Coryton Cove, while short-stay daily or weekly hire is easiest to find in the wider Dawlish area, especially at Dawlish Warren. In practice, it works best for people happy to be flexible about exact beach and booking pattern.

Day hire

Turn up, collect a key, and have a base for the day. Available as walk-ins at selected Dawlish beaches from late March to September, or book in advance for a minimum of two days at other locations. Prices typically start from around the cost of lunch out.

Weekly hire

Book a hut for a full week and use it every day of your holiday or half-term break. Weekly hire is available at most Dawlish beaches and is the most popular option during summer. Keys are collected at the start and returned on the final Friday by 5pm.

Seasonal hire

Have a hut for the entire season: spring, summer, autumn or winter. This is how regular visitors and locals use beach huts the most. You get your own key, your own spot, and can drop in whenever you like. Some owners also offer block bookings of several weeks at a reduced rate.
