Dawlish has one of the most distinctive seafronts in Devon. The railway runs right by the sea, the beach stretches away towards Red Rock, and the whole place feels like a proper old coast town rather than a polished resort designed by committee. People either love the trains immediately or spend the day pretending they are too grown-up to care and then end up watching them anyway.
Coryton Cove gives Dawlish a slightly softer side, with its row of huts and more tucked-away feel, while the main town beach is broader and more open. Together they give the place real range. Busy if you want it. Quieter if you don't.
The two names that matter are Dawlish Town Beach and Coryton Cove. The main beach feels broader and more open, with the railway and town close by. Coryton Cove is smaller, more sheltered in feel and the prettier of the two if you like your beach days a little less busy.
Dawlish is a little mixed on rental style. Teignbridge lists long-term hut leases at Dawlish and Coryton Cove, while short-stay daily or weekly hire is easiest to find in the wider Dawlish area, especially at Dawlish Warren. In practice, it works best for people happy to be flexible about exact beach and booking pattern.
