Studland is one of the Dorset places that still feels like a real piece of coastline rather than a developed seaside strip. The beaches are long, the dunes give everything a softer edge, and there is room for the place to breathe. That changes the feel of a beach hut stay. It is quieter, looser and more about the setting than the seafront infrastructure.
The huts here are not an afterthought either. There are around 240 along the beach in total, with around 30 National Trust huts available to rent, mostly at Knoll Beach and a few at South Beach. They are simple inside, with deckchairs and a table rather than a lot of extras, which honestly fits Studland quite well.
Most of the rentable National Trust huts are at Knoll Beach, with a smaller number at South Beach. Knoll is the obvious starting point because it has the main visitor facilities, while South Beach feels a bit simpler and more tucked away.
Studland has a clear hire setup. National Trust huts can be booked for daily hire, weekly hire or three-season rental. They do not have electricity or running water inside, and cooking on fires, barbecues or gas stoves is not allowed, so the huts stay fairly simple and beach-focused.
Turn up, collect a key, and have a base for the day. Available as walk-ins at selected Studland beaches from late March to September, or book in advance for a minimum of two days at other locations. Prices typically start from around the cost of lunch out.
Book a hut for a full week and use it every day of your holiday or half-term break. Weekly hire is available at most Studland beaches and is the most popular option during summer. Keys are collected at the start and returned on the final Friday by 5pm.
Have a hut for the entire season: spring, summer, autumn or winter. This is how regular visitors and locals use beach huts the most. You get your own key, your own spot, and can drop in whenever you like. Some owners also offer block bookings of several weeks at a reduced rate.
