Check hut details and bookingAvon and Friars Cliff are the easiest for straightforward family beach days, with toilets, showers, cafes, accessible facilities and parking close by. Gundimore has level access and nearby food options, while Mudeford Sandbank is more stripped back, with toilets at intervals and access on foot, by bike or via the land train.
Check the walking distance, steps and parking arrangements for your chosen hut. Facilities can have seasonal opening hours.
Facilities and beach guideChristchurch is good with dogs if you know the beaches. Mudeford Sandbank and Gundimore allow dogs all year, with Gundimore asking for leads on the promenade and Mudeford asking for close control near the nature reserve. Avon Beach and Friars Cliff are seasonal restriction beaches, with dogs banned from 1 May to 30 September. So in summer there are still proper dog-friendly options, just not everywhere.
Permission to bring a dog into the hut is separate from access to the beach. Ask the hut provider before booking.
Plan a dog-friendly dayCheck the latest forecast and tide times shortly before you travel. A forecast available today may not cover your planned visit.
See current beach conditionsFollow local lifeguard advice and beach safety signs. Tide predictions do not tell you whether it is safe to swim.
Leave time for a walk, a picnic or something nearby. Check opening hours, access and any separate booking requirements.

BCP Council
BH23 4AN
The council lists daily opening from 9am to 9pm and six disabled bays. Check the signs for gate closure and seasonal charges.
These are source-checked records, not live space availability. Charges and restrictions can change: check the council information and signs when you arrive. A Blue Badge bay does not confirm step-free beach access.
